Working Internationally

Businesses of all sizes market themselves and/or trade overseas and by doing so, regularly deal with overseas entities. With increased unknowns, it is important to not only seek general legal business advice but also advice in relation to the overseas market into which you are entering.

Our lawyers understand the complexities and unknown elements companies (and individuals) face when operating in foreign markets. Our lawyers provide legal services to foreign organisations looking to operate in Australia, as well as Australian investors looking at new markets overseas.

We advise on:

  • intellectual property matters - including international licensing, patenting issues, and trademarks
  • migration - including significant investor visas, skilled work visas and sponsorship visas
  • commercial matters - including structuring, acquisition, operational and entry/exist strategies, licensing and product sales and distribution agreements
  • property - including purchase and sale development and agri-business
  • wills and estates - including international succession planning.

We identify risk factors across all of these areas and provide outcome focused legal solutions.

We have provided services to investors from overseas markets including the UK, USA and Europe, as well as high growth markets such as China, Japan, South East Asia and India.

We use more than just our legal skills to help you operate internationally. We employ bi-lingual and/or expatriate lawyers to assist with breaking down language barriers and navigating cultural differences.

To ensure we have the best quality of service, we provide mobile numbers for our partners so we are easily contacted by clients operating in different time zones

Working in Europe and with European clients

Sabina Langenhan is our lead Consultant for European clients and European operations.

As she is German-born, Sabina is fluent in German and has worked in the legal industry in both Germany and Australia, providing her with an excellent understanding of both legal systems. She is highly experienced in assisting companies and individuals from a German-speaking background with legal matters in Australia. Sabina has worked with European clients from several countries, including Austria and Switzerland.

Sabina offers a broad range of corporate advice to clients but also works closely with other lawyers in the firm to provide a full service to European clients - including drafting direct correspondence in German.

Another significant part of Sabina's role at Mullins Lawyers is advising Australian companies on their German business interests and assisting in their dealings with German entities.

Sabina is also experienced in advising executors and beneficiaries of estates which have assets in Germany.

Sabina is a member of the German Australian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (GACIC) and a founding committee member of the Queensland Chapter. Established in 1977 the GACIC represents one of the 130 German Chambers of Commerce Abroad (Deutsche Auslandshandelskammer [AHK]) located in 90 countries. It is supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economics. As an official representation of the German Chambers, it promotes German businesses and trade in Australia.
