Firm wide employee events
We host a broad range of unique entertainment and social events as part of our MullinsLifestyle program.
We recognise the value of rewarding our staff for their efforts throughout the year. We know our staff work hard and we feel it is important that they enjoy coming to work.
The following are snapshots from our annual events, including Christmas Week, the Christmas Party, our End of Financial Year Party and Melbourne Cup Day. Practice group dinners are also held throughout the year.
Daily Complementary Breakfast
A unique element to MullinsLifestyle is our daily breakfasts.
We believe a healthy breakfast is an important start to the day. So we ensure that everything is available in our Common Room for staff to enjoy breakfast before work.
This is a valued tradition within Mullins and is highly popular with our employees.
Christmas Party 2016 - Brisbane Racing Club
This year's Christmas party was held at the Brisbane Racing Club with an 'Evening at the Races' theme.
We started the evening by watching a Christmas message from our Managing Partner, Curt Schatz, on the largest outdoor screen in the Southern Hemisphere, followed by a humorous Mannequin Challenge video we created from typical scenes around the firm. This was followed by a decadent three course meal, drinks and dancing. In line with the theme we held our very own Mullins Cup, with some of the staff and partners being good sports and wearing horse costumes.
Mullins "Retro" High Tea EOFY Party
Each July, we like to celebrate the end of the financial year with a party. It is more than an excuse to let our hair down, we also see it as an opportunity to thank our staff for their efforts so far that year.
This year, staff were given a 3.00pm early mark to celebrate the End of the Financial Year at our (somewhat retro!) High Tea Party. Staff consumed champagne, Pimms, those tiny sandwiches you can only have at a tea party and, very possibly, far too much sugar!
A great afternoon turned into evening and the fun continued with live music and dancing in our Common Room.
We like to get into the spirit of Christmas at Mullins Lawyers and for many years it has been a tradition to celebrate Christmas Week. This tradition includes a full week of various Christmas activities designed to acknowledge the hard work and commitment by our staff during the year.
This year Christmas Week began with each workgroup decorating their workspace with a traditional Christmas theme. From the gingerbread wonderland theme in our Property and Hospitality group, to being 'snowed under' in the Management and Admin team area, the competition was strong! While all practice groups showed much enthusiasm in creating the spirit of Christmas at Mullins Lawyers, it was the Business Services team's creation of the Polar Express on route to the North Pole that took first place, receiving a contribution to their chosen charity.
Our Christmas festivities continued with our 'Evening at the Races' Christmas Party held at Brisbane Racing Club. Back by popular demand was our 'Pamper Day' where staff were offered massages, pedicures and manicures. Throughout the week, staff were treated to a 'lolly bar', enjoyed a picnic afternoon tea (complete with an obstacle course egg and spoon race), and one morning our partners cooked everyone a breakfast.
In the true spirit of Christmas, one of the most enjoyable parts of our Christmas Week is our annual Day of Giving. On this day members of each practice group personally contribute to gift hampers for local families in need who have been nominated by someone in the firm. This is a humbling tradition and a great way to end the year. Thank you to our staff for your hard work and generosity again this year.
Melbourne Cup Luncheon
It's a Mullins tradition to enjoy a Melbourne Cup Day long lunch with colleagues while watching the races. We enjoyed a three course lunch with a decadent seafood spread and bubbles to toast the winners of the race.
We had an impressive line up of entrants for the Fashion on the Fields parade, with some of our employees sporting the fascinators created at our recent Fascinator workshop.
We like to support our local community and this year's Melbourne Cup lunch donations will go to the Little Kings Movement charity.
Celebrating 35 Successful Years
On 31 March 2015 we celebrated our 35th anniversary with a high tea for all staff members. Everyone enjoyed a relaxing afternoon of cake, tea, champagne and classical music. Special guests of the event included Mrs Mullins, some of the partners' spouses and family members. An excellent evening was had reminiscing on the last thirty five years.
